Canadian Dental Care Plan

Canadian Dental Care Plan

The Canadian government is helping make the cost of dental care more affordable for eligible Canadian residents through The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). Bite Family Dentistry is accepting new and existing patients with the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

Who is eligible?

  • Canadian residents who have filed a Canadian tax return in the previous year.
  • Have a net family income of under $90,000 in the previous tax year.
  • People who do not have access to dental insurance (eg. through employer, school, or personal private plan, etc.)

How much does it cover?

  • The CDCP will pay all or a portion of their pre-determined fee per service.
  • The CDCP’s pre-determined fees are slightly lower than the standard fees of Alberta and the Bow Valley.
  • We will directly bill the CDCP for their portion of the fees, but there will be a co-payment you will need to pay directly to the dental office.
  • Not every procedure is covered and some procedures will need preauthorization’s, however most basic services will be included.
  • The amount of the co-payment depends on net family income.
  • You need to renew your Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) annually, with the general deadline being June 1st for continuous coverage. Typically starting the process in March after filing your taxes and receiving your Notice of Assessment, using the government’s online portal or phone service. Renewed coverage typically runs from July 1st to June 30th of the following year.
